17-Year-Old UTME Candidate Thompson Adams Allegedly Killed by Schoolmates in Lagos

A 17-year-old Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidate, Thompson Adams, has been allegedly abducted and murdered by his former schoolmates in Ikorodu area of Lagos, in a case that has sparked outrage across the state.

According to police authorities, the teenager had just completed his examination when he was contacted by individuals known to him. Trusting the familiarity, he reportedly agreed to meet them, unaware of the fatal plot.
The suspects, identified as Ayomide Adebayo (21) and Sulaimon Quadri (23), allegedly lured Adams to a location where he was killed under circumstances investigators describe as premeditated.

Police sources disclosed that the victim’s body was later concealed in a bag and dumped, a development that has deepened public anger and grief over the incident.

Confirming the arrests, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Olohundare Jimoh, said the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.

Preliminary findings, according to the police, suggest the suspects may have been involved in previous criminal activities, including kidnapping. Investigators are exploring claims that the victim may have been killed because he could identify those involved.

“This is a deeply disturbing case involving betrayal and calculated violence,” a senior police source said, adding that the command is committed to ensuring justice is served.

The tragic killing has triggered widespread condemnation, particularly on social media, where Nigerians have expressed shock that the perpetrators were people known to the victim.

Residents of Ikorodu described the incident as a grim reminder of the growing threat of youth involvement in violent crimes and the dangers of misplaced trust.
The police have assured the public that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

As the community mourns the loss of a young life cut short, the case has reignited urgent conversations around insecurity, peer influence, and the need for stronger preventive measures among Nigeria’s youth population.
